Want to organise a party in Groningen? At Cafe Salud you don't celebrate in a bare function room, but in a real brown café on the Carolieweg, a short walk from the Grote Markt. Wooden tables, a bar with our own taps and an atmosphere that is there from the very first minute. You don't have to dress anything up to make it cosy.

Can you organise a party at Cafe Salud?

Yes. You can celebrate your birthday, graduation, anniversary or drinks at Cafe Salud, right in the centre of Groningen. We reserve a spot in the café for your group and provide drinks, sharing boards and, if you like, a beer or wine tasting.

Is the café closed to other guests?

No. The café stays open to other guests, also when you celebrate a party here. Your group gets its own spot in the café, and the atmosphere of a lively brown café comes with it.

How many people can you celebrate with at Cafe Salud?

We work with tailor-made packages from €15 per person. The price depends on the date, duration, number of guests, drinks package and bites. Request a no-obligation proposal.

Can we eat at the party?

Yes, we provide sharing boards and bites, tailored to the group and any dietary requirements. A beer or wine tasting with matching bites is also possible.

Can we bring our own food and drinks?

We take care of drinks and bar snacks, that comes with a café. If you have something special in mind, such as a birthday cake, mention it in your enquiry and we'll see what's possible.

Practical: a party in the centre of Groningen

Cafe Salud is at Carolieweg 31, in the middle of Groningen's old town. For a party that is convenient: guests from out of town find you easily, and anyone who doesn't want to go home afterwards can walk straight on to the nightlife district. The city centre is largely car-free, so cycling or public transport is quickest. If you come by car, park in one of the city-centre garages and walk the last stretch.

Organising a party: what to consider

A party that goes well is usually one where the basics were sorted in advance. With these points you're in good shape.

Date and time

The day and time largely determine the atmosphere:

Weekdays: quieter in town and often more choice of dates. Ideal for an anniversary, farewell or reunion where conversation comes first.
Friday and Saturday: livelier, and afterwards you can head straight into town. The most popular evenings, so they fill up fastest.
Afternoon or evening: an afternoon party works well with family and children, an evening party for friends and colleagues.
Book in good time: for autumn, the holiday season and the end of the academic year it is wise to enquire well in advance.

The details

Mention these things in your enquiry so we can take them into account:

Number of guests: an estimate is enough to start with. You agree the final number later.
Non-drinkers: we'll make sure there are good alcohol-free options, so everyone has something nice in their glass.
Dietary requirements: let us know about allergies or vegetarian preferences in advance and we'll adjust the bites.
Speeches, music or decorations: want to give a speech or decorate your spot a little? Mention it and we'll discuss what's possible. The café stays open to other guests, so we'll work out together what fits.
